Every day, I’m challenging the Team at Threelly to get BETTER. To do BETTER. To be BETTER. YouTube exists and people have been sharing videos for the longest time. But there are huge gaps for someone looking to learn from YouTube. Too much clutter, too much information and very little time to watch lengthy videos. For this reason, we needed to improve things, by creating a BETTER and EASY way for people to get in, get the precise slice of knowledge they want, quickly and easily without wasting valuable time. All your favorite TED videos, inspirational speakers and thought leaders in one single place. This is the product we’ve built (www.threelly.com) and people world over are raving about the difference it’s made in their ability to learn.
But beyond Threelly, this idea of making things BETTER is particularly dear to me as many people don’t start businesses or follow their dreams because they believe their ideas aren’t “original” enough.
To dispel this, let’s look at some hugely successful ideas that weren’t so “Original”
- Steve Jobs made a Phone: That wasn’t original!
- Mark Zuckerburg made a Social Network: He wasn’t the first to do that!!
- JK Rowling wrote a book about Wizards: Daaaaahhhh!!!
- Elon Musk built cars that run on electricity: Get the point???
These people succeeded not because they had “original” ideas…but because they did something “BETTER”.
With Steve Jobs as an example, we know Phones existed long before the iPhone came along. But when the iPhone came, it was BETTER than all the competition. As a result of that, it was a huge SUCCESS.
So instead of worrying about how “original” your idea is, you should be focusing on making your product or idea BETTER. If it’s BETTER enough than the competition, it will be successful!!!
