Acrophobia. Extreme fear of heights. More on this later.
This post is to talk about nicknames.
We’ve all had nicknames. Some of them surprise you. Others make you burst into hysteria screaming WTF was that?
A friend of mine saw pictures of me jumping and immediately said… “Jumping CEO”. Thank you @StephenNgang for such a clever name.
I honestly couldn’t STOP laughing the moment I heard that.
Yes, I founded a hugely successful content site for entrepreneurs Threelly (subscribe). But the funny thing is….I’m not a huge fan of the CEO title! (I’d explain why at another time).
I do love travelling, jumping and taking pictures. So, the “Jumping CEO” nickname itself brought up an interesting point and reminded me of why exactly I jumped.
Human beings are meant to stay on the ground. By this I mean, humans are meant to be “grounded”. So, jumping is an exercise that goes against all that is human in us.
When you jump, there are a few seconds where you get total freedom. Everyone else stays grounded, but you get the unique experience of floating high up in the sky, with the birds, the breeze, the leaves and everything else that is comfortable staying at higher heights. Not many people get to experience this.
Being high up might be a dream for some –or a nightmare for others. But, regardless of where you stand (pun intended), jumping itself is the ultimate metaphor for life.
In life, we are constantly jumping between emotions, jobs, relationships, careers, goals, hobbies and much more. Brilliant individuals have immortalised the vital essence of jumping in a few quotes.
Those who don’t jump will never fly. –Leena Ahmad Almashat, Harmony Letters
The sparrows jumped before they knew how to fly, and they learned to fly only because they had jumped. –Lauren Oliver, Liesl & Po
Wings are like dreams. Before each flight, a bird takes a small jump, a leap of faith, believing that its wings will work. That jump can only be made with rock solid feet. –J.R. Rim
Success needs more than jumping, You must leap and hop. –Mohammed Sekouty
So, conquer your fears. Make it a habit to JUMP. Jump Up HIGH. Stretch yourself, Soar High and reach for the Skies. Even if you don’t end up with a nickname like “Jumping CEO“, you just might end up with beautiful pictures and a feeling you’ve never had before.
