InspiredLiving101 – Volunteering with Books for Africa

The name of the organization is simple, but it’s mission is powerful. The goal: To end the book famine in Africa.

A book is a dream that you hold in your hand. –Neil Gaiman

It was very refreshing joining friends to help in the cause.

Here is a brief stats on what they have accomplished.

Books For Africa remains the largest shipper of donated text and library books to the African continent, shipping over 37 million books to 49 different countries since 1988.  Over the past 12 months we have shipped 2.4 million books, 154 computers and 62 e-readers containing 467,000 digital books, as well as 7 new law and human rights libraries to 25 African countries. More than $2.5 million was raised last year to ship the books to the students of Africa.

My hope is that the people who end up receiving these books have BIG dreams to hold in their hands, and that they go on to live Inspiring Lives.

Stay Humble! Stay Awesome!
